MARY'S QUILT |

Mary whom I have never met saw a quilt I had in a show back in February at the local coffee shop. It wasn't for sale as it had been made for my boyfriend. Her daughter Liz had just started seeing my eldest son. So over the months I guess Mary had asked often about me making this same quilt design for her, which I actually could do since it was made with commercial fabrics and I still had enough to make another quilt. So this fall I started on it, when it became apparent she was definitely serious about wanting it. I had to do some machine quilting first before I felt confident enough to do one on commission. The original one is hand quilted and hand appliqued. So I practiced on a few others with both machine quilting and machine applique, although nothing as difficult on the appliquing. I finished it a few days before Liz and my son were heading to Chicago where Mary lives to spend Thanksgiving with her. From what Liz says, Mary was thrilled with her new quilt. That makes me happy! |

It is beautiful!
Is this the hand-quilted or the machine quilted one? you put a lot of time and love into it!

Thanks! Thuis is the machine quilted one, my boyfriend has the hand quilted one. I am constantly taking it from him to put into shows, he is cool with that.

About Me |

Name: Attack of the Vintage

About Me: Hi! I am a fiber artist tryig to work on my art everyday of 2007. With doing this I hope my art will evolve and I will learn many new techniques this coming year. My goal is to be able to make my living doing my fiber arts.
I also make my own earrings when I have a need of a new pair.
I am an avid brick collector and belong to International Brick Collectors Association. I try to attend at least one brick swap a year to share my bricks and to collect new ones from all over the country. I am currently working on a hugh brick walk and patio.
Gardening is another love of mine, my yard is getting rather funky in my yard decorating. I go for the unusaul and people come out my way to see what I have added each year. Last summer was green beer bottles for the flower bed edging and bowling ball towers. I have no idea what I will be adding this coming summer.
